Reflection for Activities carried out in the month of August, 2013
On 3rd July 2013, Information Communication Technology in Teaching and Learning was introduced to us by our tutor, Mr. Chenga Dorji. Upon completion of the module he made the student teachers to perform web research effectively, maintain online journals in learning processes, design learning activities using office package and other educational software, create documents online and work collaboratively among the learners on the web using simulations and games to enhance learning and select and use appropriate application programs to match learning objectives.
First assignment I did was to prepare lesson plan in group by using internet to download teaching learning materials and to send the prepared lesson plan to get comments for further improvement. I used other information communication technologies like telephone to converse and mobile to send messages to complete the task in the faster way.
I could reflect on learning how to create my own blog to share things with others to get and give information. For instance through blog, teacher trainees have shared survey questions on different topics with different people which was found to be very useful in collecting information in short period of time. I did survey on internet and got lost of responses from many people within few days.
I understood that Information Communication Technology as application providing vast amount of information in various formats like text, audio, graphics, and video. I also learned accessing information for supporting, generating and enhancing problem-solving processes is important than anything to be well informed people with modern communication technologies. ICT also provides tools to get raw materials for students to organize, reorganize, compare and construct the ideas they have to communicate to others meaningfully.
While doing different assignments using ICT, I faced problems of slow network and most of the time there was no internet coverage. In odd hours I have to go to the place where the internet facility is available. I took hardship of walking thirty minutes from my school to meet with different people like ICT Officers in the Dzongkhag, School ICT coordinators and managers of telecom and Aman resort to avail internet facility. I also took the opportunity to talk in the Dzongkhag Education Conference about the need of internet in the schools to update with important information. Meeting with different people with different attitude was good experience and of course my way of dealing with different people improved which is very necessary part of teacher.
Finally, at the end of my work I am able to reflect that lot of learning took place in terms of using ICT as well as in dealing with different people and coping with many problems.
